v_maxim. If you look at other threads on this forum you will see many complaints about out poor wear on the Conti's fitted from new. I certainly don't drive the car hard and have just replaced the front tyres after 13k miles. Even the garage where they were replaced said they would normally expect them to last 20k to 30k. Wear was even, tracking was checked and shown still to be perfect.

I have just fitted back the Conti EcoContact 5 for the summer. Visually inspected - all looks fine; ran for almost 11k km until now. With this summer I think I come close to the 13k miles "threshold". Well, I'll keep an eye on the tires...

Hello,

Thanks for all your help. Committed this time to the 195/60/16 which are indeed ridiculously expensive compared to 205/55/16...more choice on the market I guess. Also felt that as the vehicle was supplied with 195/60/16 H XL tyres I should replace with like, as from an insurance point of view, there would be no deviation from the standard fit regarding size and type i.e. H XL.

Regards,

MarkS.

Just don't get tyres less than 89V index XL or without XL. Been using Dunlop Sportmaxx RT2 91H after the first Conti for front axle then Turanza T005 93V, replace the dunlop to rear axle, not dissapointed. Now i need to change the back tyre for a Hankook Ventus Prime 3 93V. Review said it's great.

Tried Nankang long time a go on an Hyundai Tucson, not the best tyres on the wet grip and wear but it's a budget one. Probably now its quality is better. If you drive not on a sporty spirit and not a lot of km/year, i think you'd be fine.

If you have a look on ASDA Tyres you can search whatever dimensions you need and it'll chuck some suggestions at you and you book it at a garage local to you. There's a couple of the brands you mentioned there but there's some Bridgestones as well.
