Switch car alarm off

Is it possible to switch the alarm off but still lock the car as requested on ferries?

Is that the sensor off button that's at the right knee next to the stop/start button?
Never used mine but I think that's the one you mean.

I had a look around mine today, I could not find a button to disable internal sensors..... but I could not see any see any sensors to disable anyway!

Is the button to the right for theft alarm? Anyone that has got it in the car and can explain function??

That looks like some kind of proximity alarm. One place I worked somebody had one on a BMW. If you got within about 2 feet of the car the alarm went off accompanied by a voice telling you to move away from the vehicle. Must have been great fun in supermarket carparks!
