Air con recharge

Just tried checking my air con pressure as I was hoping to top it up myself. Unfortunately the nozzle doesn't want to fit (fitting on my girlfriend's volkswagon and my dad's peugeot). Phoned the dealership who told me that a trained mechanic can only do it at a cost of £130! for a full recharge. Do nissan use an obscure fitting to be awkward?
Can anyone help?? (Can provide pics)
Thanks

I'd had issues with my air con when the car was fairly new, the dealership told me the air con refrigent type was a uncommon one... so chances are it'll require a different type to the other cars you tried..

I understand it now. It uses the new R1234yf refrigerant. Thanks Liam

£130 puts you off getting it done, I'll probably give it a miss.

I've asked ATS if they can do it. They probably could at a fraction of the price

I suspect the answer is a resounding YES. My missus has an '07 reg Micra. The tyres for that were only available from a single manufacturer, with inflated prices to match (excuse the pun)
