When the car was in for the seat base to be replaced they did a check on the brakes etc. 4mm left on the front pads, when should they be changed?

Mine got to ~2mm when I changed them. That was around 25k on the clock, but I am heavy on the brakes.

Fairly straight forward to swap out, but watch out for the spring on the clips, they are a little annoying!

Thanks. I won't be doing it myself. I have hip and knee problems so getting down to a level where I could do it is virtually impossible.

have them independently checked, according to my local Nissan 1st safety check brakes at 50 % 2 weeks later brakes at 75 % used, I asked why discrepancy and was told they arn,t ACTUALLY checked proper just that's how much wear they expect after a certain time.
