Re: New guy

Update.... Timing chain kit fitted, remap done and a new clutch release bearing too. Feels like a different car. I did find the gearbox a tad difficult at times but it hadn't occurred to me that it could be clutch related. Just thought it was the way of it. Remap seems to have done away with the fla...

Re: Is Pulsar really not a good car ?

It's not a bad car. And considering the price difference between a qq and a pulsar vs spec, engine options etc, they are good value. Stiff competition in the segment and a lack of advertising (in the UK anyway) meant that they were rarely considered as an option. I was unaware of their existence unt...

Re: New guy

Yeah, I can only assume that it's a faulty part and that there is nothing bigger going on. It doesn't use oil, mpg is good, dives fine, it just had a noise. My last car developed a noise, which I assumed was the drive belt. When I saw the work involved in replacing it, I decided to change the cam be...

Re: New guy

If their plan is to make me want to buy an extended warranty/brand new Micra, they are succeeding. I do love my pulsar though. Hope this isn't the latest chapter of the jalopy chronicles.

Re: New guy

Well well well, after my slight rattle when cold worsened, I booked her into nissan for the once over. Turns out I need a new timing chain kit fitted. 3 weeks before the warranty is up. 20000 on the clock. Lucky it was caught? Or something to worry about? Time will tell I suppose. Be interested to k...

Re: 1.2 petrol engine

Would it just be these chassis numbers affected? Mine isn't within the bracket but it's going in next week as it's developed a fluttery wind noise which occurs on hard acceleration for the first ten minutes of driving. She can be hesitant too when trying to maintain speed. Oil consumption is practic...

Re: New guy

Well, 1k covered already and so far so good. Got 54mpg on my last journey (mostly behind a lorry lol) so getting the hang of her. No oil usage or very very little at least. Notice a jerkiness when the ac is on and a slight rattle on acceleration when cold but the performance for a 1.2 is impressive ...

Re: New guy

It's got 3 months manufacturers warranty left. I've bought a few cars from this garage and the guy is ok. If I went back with something in 6 months, he'd probably sort it out. I had a golf year's ago with a knackered clutch and he sorted it foc. I've helped him out with some machining in the past to...
