Re: Just bought a Pulsar
That be tasty. I've seen a few attempts at modding the pulsar to make it look sportier which, quite frankly, look horrid. Those red accents really suit it. Wish we had that option in the UK.

Re: Updates and recalls
The highest mileage car I know of round my way died with over 250k on the clock. It was a renault Laguna. I had a mk 5 golf tdi which suffered so many problems that I traded it in for peanuts due to ecu failure and a knackered dmf, amongst other things, which would've cost a hairy torture to fix. It...

Re: Windscreen
It was done yesterday. And no rattles, possibly due to it being a bonded screen. I saw it come off and the screen is quite thin compared to others I've seen.

Re: Windscreen
Apparently it's a laminated glass designed to reduce road noise by up to 3db. Interestingly enough though, they are generally thinner than standard glass. Everyday is a school day.

Windscreen
Like the advert says, a small chip can easily lead to a crack. And it did. Just wish I'd known there was a chip, on the black bit, between the wipers, when it's mostly dark! Anyway, I knew it had the rain sense but I never knew that the glass is acoustic. Is this a standard feature of all pulsars? D...

Re: Brake pads
FYI the brembo pads are a noticeable improvement over stock in terms of performance. And not particularly expensive either. How long they last is another thing. They don't come with shims though, so be careful taking the old ones off.

Re: Brake pads
I just did mine at 25k. Probably had 5k left in them. New pads feel much more grippy than the stock ones. Mine were noisy too, which is now cured.

Re: Brakes
Well, job done today. As you can see by the photos, the handbrake is a brake shoe set up. Both shoes share a single mounting point and the whole setup can be pivoted slightly, so that would explain the movement after applying the handbrake. There is an adjuster screw which can be accessed through a ...

Re: Brakes
I'm pretty sure they're not electronic. It's two brake shoes inside the drum part of the brake disc. The shoes' job is to hold the position, not actually to slow the car down, so I'm thinking that there will not be any friction material on them, which may cause the movement. I said a foot but it's p...

Re: Brakes
The handbrake is strange. Mine doesn't hold completely until the very last click. I'm not a fan of yarking it on that much, can't be good for the cable. I'll see if I can adjust anything when I get round to the job. Be interesting to see if the shoes self adjust or not. I don't get a clunk, but if t...
